We believe homework is important because it is a valuable aid in helping students make the most of their experience in school. Homework is given because it reinforces what has been taught in class, prepares students for upcoming lessons, and helps students develop self-discipline, responsibility, and organizational skills.
Students' homework responsibilities:
Homework will be turned in complete and on time in order to receive full credit.
All assignments are to be completed; homework is to be done neatly.
Assignments left in a student’s locker may be counted as missed assignments.
Students are responsible for obtaining, completing, and submitting homework missed due to absence(s).
If students choose not to do their homework, the following consequences may occur:
Parents may be asked to correspond with teachers through the planner.
Students may receive a "0" for that assignment or may receive a reduction in points from their quarter average.
A conference may be held for parents, teachers, counselor, advisor, and administrators.
If there is a legitimate reason why a student is unable to finish homework, please send a note on the day the homework is due stating the reason it was not completed.
Parents' homework responsibilities:
Parents are the key to making homework a positive experience for their children. Since students record their homework in their planners daily for each class, we ask that parents and guardians check to see if assignments have been completed and check planners for any additional information. We also ask that parents/guardians make homework a top priority, provide necessary supplies and a quiet homework environment, provide praise and support, and contact us if you notice a problem or have a question. In order to monitor your child's progress, graded homework papers, quizzes, and tests should be kept and may need your signature verifying that you have seen them.
Teachers' homework responsibilities:
Homework will be checked. We keep a record of assignments completed and not completed. For some teachers a homework grade maybe averaged into the students’ quarter grades.
Homework counts as 20% of a student's overall quarter grade.
Late assignments can be turned in up to one day late for 65% credit.
